Your tribe sets your vibe. Are your tribe achieving their goals?
When I was growing up my Nana and Mam always said “show me your friends and I’ll tell you who you are.” They were warning me that I didn’t have to be up to mischief but if I hung around people that were up to mischief, I would get a bad name for it too. These days we say, "your tribe sets your vibe”.
The motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. Think about that, who do you spend the most time with?
Matthew Kelly wrote in The Rhythm of Life: Living Every Day with Passion and Purpose that “The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the best version of ourselves or encourage us to become lesser versions of ourselves. We become like our friends. No man becomes great on his own. No woman becomes great on her own. The people around them help to make them great. We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the best version of ourselves.”
I couldn’t agree more Matthew but how do we attract the right people into our lives? Well, energy is contagious! Have you ever walked into a room where someone is in a bad moon and you could almost cut through the atmosphere with a knife? Yes, we all have and we’ve also all been the person in the bad mood that created the black cloud for everyone else. I know I have. On the other hand, we have all said goodbye to friend feeling on top of the world after a good belly laugh, the best way to raise your energy or vibration in my opinion is a good belly laugh. Singing and dancing are another two ways said to raise your vibes.
Your thoughts, beliefs, feelings and mood set the tone of your vibe and what we put out we get back so if we want people in our lives that are going to make us want to do better and become the best version of ourselves we need to raise our vibes, it’s all about give and take. Thoughts influence feelings which drive actions or inaction (procrastination), if we’re thinking and feeling driven to raise our game well then, the right people will come into our lives. We will notice the right people and the positive situations that will help us to achieve our goals rather than negative roadblocks. You can’t spend a lot of time around negative people and find yourself in positive situations, so I’ll go back to my initial question, who do you spend the most time with?
I like to keep my blogs short and snappy but I can’t finish this blog without saying I’m extremely proud to be part of the Irish tribe. The Covid-19 pandemic in Ireland has been and still is a challenging time for everyone, but it has brought out the best in the majority of us, of course it brought the worst out in others but we will focus on the positive vibes and the kind vibes. So many positives have come out of this very strange time, too many to list. The kindness our country has shown to our heroes on the front line, relatives cocooning, neighbours in need and friends who feel isolated will hopefully become part of the new normal. It is fair to say that as a nation (or tribe) our kindness knows no bounds.
Do you need a good belly laugh to raise your vibe?
